Let's Clear Things Up
When you hear the word "Counseling" it's often perceived as negative.
myth: "My child has problems so they need counseling"
myth: "Counseling is linked to misunderstanding feelings"
A school counselor is a resource students, teachers and staff can utilize throughout the year. A school counselor can help student with personal or interpersonal problems, they offer small groups (3 to 8 students) to enhance listening and social skills, learn to empathize with others and find support through healthy peer relationships. No one is perfect and sometimes we don't have all the answers in the moment. We are constantly building our "tool box" and it's okay to seek guidance when there is a struggle.
